Fake tanning vs normal tanning

Posted April 28, 2010

I can't deny that I love to be tanned; my skin is normally quite pale and for me having a tan is just another part of my beauty treatment! I do love to be in the sun and get a natural tan but sometimes it’s just not possible and because of that I also love to fake tan. But I have spent quite a while finding the best fake tan out there, because believe me there is a lot of crap!

Fake tanning - When you want a nice tan but just don’t have the time to sit in the sun then fake tanning is great! If you do it properly you can have a lovely looking tan in around ten minutes, ready to go out the same night! Not only that but it's a lot safer than sitting in the sun for hours. While I know that the sun can be good for our skins this is only in small doses! To have a permanent tan from the sun we would have to spend hours in the sun and we all know that too much sun exposure can be bad for your skin and even cause skin cancer. Now fake tanning can also go horribly wrong (as a lot of us have found out the hard way!) we can end up with a horrible product that turns us orange and that can be very embarrassing! Sometimes we can also end up with streaks or blotches and that is as equally unattractive!

Real tanning - I love sitting on a beach in the sun and getting some serious rays, but how often does it happen? Once a year if I’m lucky! The time I do spend in the sun is great and not only am I getting a tan but it’s one of the most relaxing things you can do. If you manage to spend a decent amount of time in the sun then you usually get a gradual tan and these last longer than a quick single day tan. Not only that, but there are few products out there that give you the same tan that a natural tan will. So far the best fake tan I’ve used was one called Joliese sunless tanner.

So as you can see there are pros and cons for both. Fake tanning can be great if done properly and if you use a high quality tanning product then you will get good results. I've tried so many and for me the best fake tan was Joliese but you might want to try Jergens (Although Jergens doesn’t have a very strong tan color!). Real tanning can also be good but in moderation! You can still develop a nice natural tan without having to spend hours and hours in the sun everyday and putting yourself at risk of skin cancer.
